We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Tax Appraiser to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will evaluate property values for taxation purposes, ensuring accurate assessments that support fair and equitable tax policies. Duties

  • Conduct thorough inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to gather relevant data for appraisal purposes.
  • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other financial software to analyze property locations, boundaries, and market trends.
  • Apply real estate appraisal techniques, including market analysis, cost approach, and income approach methods, to determine accurate property values.
  • Collect and analyze data related to construction costs, property features, and neighborhood dynamics to inform valuation decisions.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and appraisal summaries that clearly communicate valuation findings in accordance with Fair Housing regulations and tax policies.
  • Stay current on tax laws, fair housing regulations, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs, and other relevant policies affecting property assessments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on quantitative research projects to improve valuation models and ensure consistency across assessments.

Experience

  • Proven experience in real estate appraisal or property valuation, with a strong understanding of construction costs and property markets.
  • Background in accounting or financial analysis to interpret complex data sets accurately.
  • Familiarity with GIS technology and proficiency in financial software used for data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of tax experience related to property assessment processes is highly desirable.
  • Strong mathematical skills with the ability to apply quantitative research methods effectively.
  • Experience working within the framework of Fair Housing regulations and LIHTC programs is a plus.
