Senior Appraiser - Commercial Real Estate

San Diego, California Commercial Appraiser Full-Time Hybrid $80,000 - $110,000 per year

Job Description

Who We Are

Paramount Property Tax Appeal is a commercial property tax appeal firm focused on one thing: making sure property owners pay only their fair share. We represent billions in assessed value across multiple states and work exclusively on a contingency basis, meaning our success is directly tied to results.

We’re not a volume-driven shop pushing weak cases. We build defensible valuations, take a data-first approach, and present strong, well-supported arguments to assessors, hearing officers, and appeal boards. Our team values accountability, transparency, and doing the work the right way—even when it’s harder.

If you want to be part of a firm where the numbers matter, the arguments matter, and your work directly impacts outcomes, you’ll fit in here.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Appraiser (Appraiser II) who can own cases from valuation through hearing. This role is for someone comfortable with income and sales approach analysis, building full appeal packages, and presenting confidently in front of hearing officers and full boards.

This is not a back-office role. You will be responsible for real valuations, real presentations, and real results.

What You’ll Do

  • Build complete assessment appeal cases with supporting analysis and documentation
  • Present cases before hearing officers and full assessment appeal boards
  • Determine market value for individually assigned cases using the income and sales approaches
  • Vet incoming contracts and valuations using income-based analysis
  • Gather and analyze market data to support valuation conclusions
  • Complete and maintain Excel models and case data
  • Take clear, detailed notes in Salesforce, tracking:
  • Major case issues
  • 441-D requests
  • Assessor communications
  • Case progress, resolutions, wins, and stipulations
  • Observe and collaborate with experienced appraisers to continue developing advanced case strategies

What You Bring - Required Knowledge

  • Commercial real estate sales and valuation principles
  • Real and personal property valuation
  • Building construction fundamentals
  • Sales Approach and Income Approach
  • Financial mathematics and basic economic principles
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Required Abilities

  • Apply appraisal principles, methods, and relevant legal provisions
  • Learn and apply property tax laws and regulations
  • Conduct full, professional presentations before boards with supporting evidence
  • Collect, interpret, and evaluate market and financial data
  • Defend valuation conclusions logically and clearly
  • Learn and use Salesforce in accordance with company SOPs

Note: This role does not require any specific credentials, just the knowledge and experience.

Why This Role

You won’t be buried doing prep work for someone else’s case. You’ll own valuations, present them, and see the direct impact of your work. This role is designed for someone ready to operate at a senior level while continuing to grow in responsibility and influence.
