Felvey & Associates, a real estate appraisal firm in the Chicagoland area, is seeking a skilled Residential Trainee Appraiser to join our dynamic team. We specialize in providing accurate and timely residential property valuations for lenders, homeowners, and real estate professionals across Cook, DuPage, Lake, Will, DeKalb, Kendall, and Kane counties.
Job Summary:
As a Residential Trainee Appraiser, you will work with a supervisor to accomplish property appraisals for single-family homes, condominiums, townhomes, and multi-family residences (up to 4 units). You will leverage your expertise to deliver high-quality appraisal reports that comply with USPAP standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site property inspections to assess condition, features, and marketability.
- Analyze market trends, comparable sales, and neighborhood data to determine accurate property values.
- Prepare detailed appraisal reports in compliance with USPAP, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and client guidelines.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local real estate markets and regulatory changes.
- Manage workload efficiently to meet client deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Residential Trainee Appraiser license in the state of Illinois.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience conducting residential appraisals.
- Strong knowledge of Chicagoland real estate markets.
- Working understanding of appraisal software and local real estate data sources (e.g., TOTAL, MLS, Public Record).
- Must be proficient with major form types (1004, 1073, 1025, 2055, etc.)
- Excellent analytical and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for property inspections.
- Solo inspection experience including photographing, measuring, and collecting subject information such as recent improvements, etc.

- Pay agreement is based on reports completed and the trainee’s capabilities.

Work Environment:
- This role involves a mix of fieldwork (property inspections) and office/remote work (report preparation). You’ll have the opportunity to work with a supportive team of appraisers, supervisors, and administrative staff.
