Residential Property Appraiser

This is a professional position that combines fieldwork, data analysis, and public interaction.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections of residential, commercial, and personal property
• Measure and document new construction and improvements
• Collect and analyze appraisal data, including sales ratios and market trends
• Review deeds, plats, zoning information, and ownership records
• Enter and verify property appraisal data in computer systems
• Prepare and mail assessment notices
• Assist taxpayers with homestead exemptions, conservation use, and appeal rights
• Provide support to the Board of Equalization
• Maintain documentation to defend assessed values

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Coursework or training in property appraisal, assessment, or related field preferred
• Minimum 1 year experience in property appraisal, property assessment, construction, or related field
• Must possess and maintain Georgia Property Appraiser I certification
• Valid Georgia Driver's License

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Work Environment

• Combination of office and field work
• Outdoor inspections in varying weather conditions
• Moderate physical activity (walking, measuring, lifting up to 20 lbs.)
• Frequent interaction with the public

Pay: From $44,000.00 per year
