Job Summary
Under immediate supervision, receives initial orientation and training in conducting appraisals of real property; and performs other duties as required.
Examples Of Duties

- Receives classroom and on-the-job training in the basic principles, theories, methods and techniques of appraising real property, and orientation as to the functions and objectives of the assigned and related organizational units;
- Performs assigned readings on the fundamentals of real property appraisals and applicable laws;
- Accompanies higher level appraisers conducting on-site inspections of land and improvements to receive training in classifying property to its highest and best use, assessing fair market value, assigning land-use classification, and determining applicability of, and adjustments to, building classifications;
- Secures factual data from various sources such as legal descriptions, records of taxes, deeds or encumbrances;
- Accompanies higher level appraisers on visits to real estate offices, title companies, etc., learn interviewing techniques, methods of securing information and data to be obtained;
- As instructed, collects and records information relating to rental and sales markets, price levels, replacement costs, types of properties and range of evaluation in particular neighborhoods;
- Assists in the preparation of staff appraisals by checking accuracy of mathematical computations and factual data;
- May make tentative estimates of value of relatively uncomplicated properties for training purposes;
- Prepares correspondence requesting or supplying routine information; and
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Training & Experience:
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree in real estate, business, or public administration, economics or a related field.
