Seattle, Washington Appraisal Trainee Full-Time Hybrid $25.00 - $50.00 per hour

About the Position

Francis T. Webster Appraisal Partners is looking to hire someone interested in becoming Certified General Real Estate Appraisers in the State of Washington. The training process requires accumulating work experience and online classwork, over training period lasting 2-3 years. Applicant needs to have a 4-year degree, basic math/excel skills and an interest in real are expected to be in-office (in Green lake) most days during the first year or so of training, with more remote work options once they are competent. Low key, small office vibes.

  • Conduct formal appraisals of real property for a variety of uses including lending, litigation and taxation
  • Evaluate properties to establish market values using internal and external sources
  • Make on property visits property and interview clients and brokers
  • Real Estate Market Research
  • Prepare reports that are well writing and supported with market evidence.
  • Maintain work files, collect data and docs
  • Maintain a high quality work product that is credible and reliable.

Trainees start at $20/hr or $25/hr if you already have your trainee license. We expect trainees to progress quickly and within 6 months or so, we expect to move you to fee split. Whereas, you make a commission on the assignments you complete, roughly $35/hr equivalent, as you progress your split will increase in steps up to roughly $50/hr equivalent. At this point you can work mostly from home and will be mostly in charge of your own schedule. This is a deadline driven business, you will need to manage your time accordingly. Three online classes to get you introduced to the industry and a test to get your trainee license. Once acquired you can start clocking job hours towards your firm will reimburse you 50% cost of your classwork after you acquire your trainee license, roughly 6 or 7 more online classes during the training period. Our firm is based on Snohomish, and travel to the office will be required at the start but remote working will be possible as you progress through your training. Applicants will need a smart phone and laptop in order to operate the requisite appraisal software as well as a vehicle to make site visits. Work hours are mostly business hours but may require weekend work from time to time in order to meet deadlines.

Appraisal work is inherently analytical, most days are spent researching property sales and entering excel and word skills a big plus. Business and financial math skills a plus. Professional writing skills a plus. No prior experience in real estate required but it can be a helpful to hit the ground running.

We are three seasoned appraisers who recently broke off from a legacy firm. Appraisal orders and job flow has been high and we need to expand our capacity to meet the demand.
