Real Estate Analyst/Appraiser Opportunity

This position is responsible for performing real estate research and analysis to assist in the valuation of real property for right-of-way projects. This includes collecting and coalescing pertinent data, assisting in market analysis, and analyzing economic trends in designated regions, in addition to learning the appraisal process – specifically for right-of-way projects. This position reports to a designated Sr. Analyst or Director.

Position Responsibilities

• Analyze demographic information of market areas and economic trends which include employment, average wages, median incomes, traffic counts, etc.

• Perform interviews with brokers and local real estate professionals to gather property specific information and general market economic conditions.

• Gather information on new developments and other demand generators in the market area using market participant interviews and online research.

• Research comparable market land sales, improved commercial, industrial, and multi-family sales, market rents, etc.

• Provide assistance in writing appraisal reports while learning basic appraisal methodology.

• Utilize Google Earth and engineering schematics to outline and analyze land acquisitions on right-of-way projects.

• Assist in preparing exhibits and work files for Special Commissioners Hearings and trials.

• Assist with other duties and projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Basic understanding of real estate markets and economic supply/demand.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; this position involves a great deal of primary research and must be comfortable speaking with individuals via phone and synthesizing this information in written narrative form.

• Display strong analytical skills, including the ability to gather information, conduct analyses, and present findings.

• Solid organizational and follow-through skills, performing work accurately with strong attention to detail.

• Ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload, effectively manage a variety of concurrent and shifting priorities.

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite (prefer advanced knowledge in Excel).

Minimum Qualifications

• Positive attitude; humble; hungry and a team player.

• Bachelor’s degree (an emphasis in business, economics, real estate a plus, but not required) from an accredited university.

• Experience in real estate research, market analysis, or commercial appraisal is a plus but not required.
