Property Appraiser I or II

Responsible for valuing and classifying all real and personal property in La Plata County. Visits and measures property, takes photos and conducts sales and inventory review on site. Inputs information in the computer system using a variety of software including GIS mapping, Multi list programs and apex property sketch software; updates data and values on properties and defends the values in property appeals. Background or interest in real estate or construction is helpful. All training is provided and paid for by the Assessor's office with the goal of obtaining a CO Appraisal License. A high school diploma or GED are required, Bachelor's degree preferred, skill in MS Office software and ability to effectively use computers and mapping programs is required. Appraiser II trains new appraisers and requires a CO Appraiser License.
