Job Description

Lister/Appraiser

The Town of Kennebunk is accepting applications for a Lister/Appraiser in the Assessing Department to perform specialized administrative and technical work in the valuation and assessment of real and personal property.

This position is responsible for working with the Assessor and Deputy Assessor to appraise and assess both real and personal property for taxation within the Town, process and enter data, perform inspections (both personal property and real estate), and maintain property files.

Position Requirements

  • Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor's degree in public administration, business management, economics, finance, or a closely related field preferred;
  • Certified Maine Assessor, or the ability to acquire the certification within a time period determined by the Assessing Director is required;
  • 3 years of experience in the appraisal and valuation of land and buildings preferred;
  • Valid Driver’s License;
  • GIS experience helpful, but not required; or
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Pay & Benefits

This is a full-time, 37.5 hour per week, non-exempt position with a starting pay range of $27.70/hour – $33.07/hour; grade G of the Town’s Non-Union Pay Ranges. Starting pay will be determined based on demonstrated knowledge, skills, abilities, and work experience.
