Position Overview
We are seeking a Licensed Staff Appraiser to join our team onsite in Lake Forest, CA. The Staff Appraiser will play a critical role in ensuring appraisal reports are accurate, well-documented, and compliant with all regulatory and company standards. This individual will review appraisals to verify that values are well-supported, credible, and defensible, while providing guidance and expertise to our production and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Review appraisal reports for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with USPAP, investor, and agency guidelines.
- Assess whether the appraiser’s analysis, methodology, and comparable data adequately support the value conclusion.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on valuation issues, offering guidance to underwriters, account executives, and other team members.
- Stay informed on market trends, regulatory updates, and appraisal industry standards.
- Assist with training and mentoring staff regarding valuation practices and appraisal review processes.
- Collaborate with compliance, credit, and operations teams to address appraisal-related escalations.
Qualifications
- Current, active Certified Residential Appraiser License in the State of California.
- Minimum of 5 years of residential appraisal experience, with at least 2 years in an appraisal review or staff appraiser role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of USPAP, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, and VA appraisal guidelines.
- Ability to analyze complex appraisal data and communicate conclusions effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
