St Lucie County, Florida Property Inspector Full-Time In-Office $33,280 - $47,000 per year

Job Description

Objective

This position is responsible for gathering and analyzing building and construction information on all residential property within Saint Lucie County. This professional works in the field to prepare appraisals, measurement calculations of square footage, analysis of comparable property sales values and providing demographic information for each property.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Represents the Property Appraiser by conducting on-site field inspections
  • Tracks and inspects new construction and residential building improvements
  • Measures all structures and notes construction information for data entry into the CAMA system
  • Prepares residential appraisals and measurement calculations of structural
  • Completes reviews of property values upon request by property owner(s)
  • Assists internal appraisers in compiling sales data from multiple sources in the completing of sales/assessment ratio studies
  • Assist the public by providing general assessment information in person and over the phone
  • Reviews and processes building permits and data input
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrate ability to gather and analyze data in the valuation process
  • Computer knowledge, with emphasis on Assessment Software, G.I.S., Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Experience in the building trade(s) or construction fields
  • Possess some knowledge of Real Estate Appraisal Methods and Techniques
  • Ability to make rapid and accurate mathematical calculations
  • Ability to work independently and use good judgment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously through both oral and written correspondence
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of computers, calculators, and other office equipment. Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time with use of both hands and fingers with dexterity. Ability to work in multiple conditions. Knowledge of property assessments and value. Maintain composure in stressful situations. Perform tasks utilizing data processing methods and systems. Express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing. Prepare, maintain, and submit reports. Serve the public and fellow professionals with honesty and integrity.

License/Certification:

Willingness to obtain CFE designation

Pre-Employment Screening:

This position requires a background screening complete with up-to 7-year driving record
