Position Overview

The Commercial Real Estate Appraiser is responsible for preparing appraisals and appraisal reviews.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Prepare appraisals and appraisal reviews of moderate complexity property types with minimal oversight from a commercial management team member.
  • Assists senior staff in developing real estate appraisals of larger complex properties.
  • Completes risk-based appraisal reviews of third-party commercial appraisals (within established SLA’s) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and to ensure the appraisal is based on an appropriate scope of work, employs the appropriate appraisal methodology, is adequately documented, provides reasonable support for appraisal conclusions and is deemed credible for bank use. This role includes submitting revision requests (as needed) to the vendor to obtain a credible, final appraisal report suitable for bank use.
  • Maintain organized records of property inspections, market research, and appraisal reports to support audit and regulatory reviews.
  • Work closely with other appraisers, analysts, and the management team to support broader real estate projects and initiatives.
  • Provide input and feedback on methods, policies, and process improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in management, business, economics, real estate or accounting, or equivalent
  • Must have obtained a Certified General Appraiser License and is in compliance with the continuing education requirements for certification as established by the
  • Appraisal Foundation and approved by the appropriate state appraisal boards.
  • Minimum 3 years commercial appraisal experience
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial real estate appraisal principals and practice
  • Extensive knowledge of banking requirements and regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of Real Estate Appraisal Laws and Regulations
  • Basic computer skills with industry recognized software
  • Must possess excellent organizational, communication, writing, and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints
  • Analytical thinking ability, diplomacy, and professionalism are required
    • Must have well developed interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to get along well with diverse personalities
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish scheduled work
