Role Description
We are seeking a full-time Chief Appraiser to lead and oversee property valuation processes in Whitfield County. This is an on-site role based in Dalton, GA. Responsibilities include supervising appraisals, managing property assessments, ensuring compliance with local and state tax laws, developing valuation strategies, and overseeing the work of appraisal staff. The Chief Appraiser will provide technical expertise, prepare relevant reports, and ensure efficient operations in alignment with regulations and policies.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in property valuation, tax assessment, and real estate appraisal techniques
- Proficiency in management and leadership skills, including supervising teams and coordinating departmental functions
- Familiarity with local and state tax laws, regulations, and policies relevant to property assessment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and report preparation skills
- Ability to operate in an on-site, collaborative working environment
- Must be certified through the State of Georgia Appraisers’ Training Program as an Appraiser III (Appraiser IV preferred)
- Associate's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field is highly desirable
Pay Range
Based on qualifications and experience; typically, $115,000 to $130,000
